Q&A with our Employee of the Quarter - Rachael Mears

1. Can you tell us about your role at Commsworld and what your day-to-day responsibilities look like?

My role at Commsworld is focused on revenue assurance. On a day-to-day basis, I review supplier costs and ensure these are and aligned to our customer billing. This involves identifying discrepancies, investigating variances, and working closely with internal teams and vendors to address any issues.

2. How long have you been with the company, and what inspired you to join?

I’ve been with Commsworld since June last year. I was really inspired by the company’s culture and the opportunity to grow and develop my skills within a supportive team. Being recognised as Employee of the Quarter so soon after joining was honestly quite overwhelming and incredibly rewarding—it really reinforced that I’d made the right decision in joining the business.

3. What’s your favourite part of your job?

I really enjoy the challenge and reward that comes with resolving queries. Investigating issues, finding the root cause, and getting them resolved is very satisfying, especially when it provides a positive outcome for both the business and our customers.

4. Are there any big projects or achievements you’re particularly proud of?

I’m particularly proud of taking ownership of the revenue assurance checks and consistently improving accuracy within the process.

5. How do you collaborate with other teams or departments?

I regularly collaborate with other teams and departments by seeking help or confirmation on information to resolve queries around supplier costs or customer billing. Whether it’s raising tickets, attending meetings, or having quick conversations in the office, I rely heavily on the support and knowledge of others. I genuinely wouldn’t be successful in my role without this level of collaboration and teamwork.

6. How does it feel to be recognised as Employee of the Quarter?

It was a really rewarding experience and made me feel genuinely appreciated. It’s motivating to know that the work I do is noticed and valued.

7. What do you think contributed to this achievement?

I think one of the main factors was seeing things through. If I’m unable to resolve a query myself, I ask around and try to find the person or team best placed to help investigate. Taking ownership and making sure queries are followed up until they’re resolved has been really important in my role.

8. If you had to describe your job in three words, what would they be?

Detail‑focused, collaborative, rewarding.

9. What’s something your colleagues might not know about you?

I have a degree in Criminology, which is quite different from my current role but has given me strong analytical and problem‑solving skills that I still use today.
