Commsworld appoints Charles Quinn as Chief Commercial Officer and Bruce Strang as Chief Operating Officer as it completes its Board

Commsworld, the UK’s largest independent network provider, has announced highly-respected business leader Charles Quinn as its new Chief Commercial Officer.

He joins the Board of the Edinburgh-headquartered company at the same time as Bruce Strang is promoted to Chief Operating Officer.

Charles Quinn has more than 15 years’ worth of senior executive leadership experience with some of the world’s most successful global technology companies.

He spent the majority of his career at Microsoft, Dell and Hewlett Packard. At Hewlett Packard, he held senior executive roles within their Enterprise and Personal System businesses across Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Charles retains his position as chair of Re:markable, the leadership and development organisation.

He is also a ‘GlobalScot’ – the worldwide network of entrepreneurial and inspirational business leaders dedicated to supporting Scotland’s most ambitious companies.

At Commsworld, Charles will have executive responsibility for the company’s commercial strategy and marketing/communications to ensure business growth and increased market share.

He said: “I have watched with admiration as Commsworld has gone from strength to strength, and am now delighted to be part of the leadership team.

“Commsworld is recognised as a UK-wide expert in network and connectivity solutions and has a hugely impressive range of customers across the public and private sector.

“With the significant backing of Lloyds Development Capital, and our own UK-wide optical core network in place, we have a golden opportunity to expand Commsworld’s geographical presence  and focus on a wide range of markets, with social housing chief among them.”

The significant contribution of Bruce Strang has been recognised as he is promoted to Chief Operating Officer, taking the final position on the company’s experienced Board.

Bruce has played a major role in the business’s impressive performance and a key role in the completion of an investment in Commsworld by LDC, the private equity arm of Lloyds Banking Group.

Bruce said:“I am proud to be part of Commsworld, and have been for every second of the past two years. We have gone from strength to strength, capturing new business in both the public and private sector. I am looking forward to continuing to grow Commsworld as a business and taking it into new markets.

“The Covid-19 pandemic has seen radical changes to the way we live and work, and has changed the way we operate across the UK and internationally. I believe Commsworld has an opportunity to help support people in their homes so they get access to the fastest, most secure digital technology available and can thrive both in the educational and business world.”

The addition of Charles and Bruce completes the business’s impressive Board, which also comprises John Trower, Ricky Nicol, Steve Langmead, Mark Kerr and Graeme St John.

Chief Executive Ricky Nicol said:“I am delighted that Commsworld has been able to secure a person of Charles’s experience and talents. We are over the moon to have him working with us.

“With the appointments of both Charles and Bruce, we have completed our new Board. We couldn’t wish for a more talented and knowledgeable group of people round our Board table.

“The future is looking very bright indeed for Commsworld.”
