Commsworld Makes it Five Years of Sponsorship at Boroughmuir

Historic Edinburgh rugby club, Boroughmuir has secured continuing sponsorship with a prominent Scottish tech firm – enabling the club to begin establishing an academy to provide a pathway for youngsters to the highest levels of the game.

As the First XV main shirt sponsor, Commsworld will now provide funding to the minis as well, with the new deal seeing the company strengthen its partnership with the whole youth section.

As well as further funding coaching and refereeing, the Meggetland based club will now see all the junior sides, from P1-P7 and S1-S4 take the field in matching kit.

Currently in its second year as sponsor, the new expanded deal ensures the Edinburgh tech firm will remain as lead sponsor at Boroughmuir for at least half a decade in total – allowing the club the security of long-term planning that makes an academy launch possible.

David Campbell, Director of Youth Rugby at Boroughmuir RFC, said: “We are very much focussed on developing a club culture - from the way we play to our social activities across all age groups, whilst having a strong focus on social responsibility through access to quality rugby coaching for all children across our community and schools in the area.”

“This latest sponsorship from Commsworld will help further establish this as we look to set-up our academy.”

David, whose two sons, aged ten and twelve, both play mini and age grade rugby at the club, believes that this added funding can have an effect on morale as well as quality of play.

He added: “Something as small as having the same shirt sponsor can have an impact on the mentality of the kids. They see the Firsts running out in the same shirts and it can instil a sense of pride in the club and help them to feel the integral part of the set up that they are.

“We have one of the largest junior set-ups in Scotland and a big part of this is down to inclusivity. This sponsorship will see this continue, keeping costs down for parents wherever possible.”

In addition to appearing on match-strips Commsworld have also supplied funds to enable kids partaking in the mini rugby programme to purchase hoodies

Ricky Nicol, Chief Executive at Commsworld, said: “We’re very pleased to be able to support the advancement of rugby at Boroughmuir.

“It is rewarding to see the sponsorship of the junior teams making a difference and wish them all the best for the remainder of the season.”
