Last week Scotland was faced with battering winds reaching speeds up to 150mph, now the Met Office are predicting violent snow and thunder storms so once again we are bracing ourselves for further travel disruptions and battening down the hatchets - quite literally. Two weeks ago thousands of public sector workers took industrial action which caused 2667 schools in Scotland to close forcing parents to take holidays from work to stay at home and look after their children; that is unless they had flexible working practices and resources in place to enable working from home. So is it any surprise that there is a growing demand for call conferencing and video conferencing. Not to mention other factors including the continued economic slowdown and the record breaking petrol prices. If you follow Commsworld on Twitter or more notably Commsworld CEO, Ricky Nicol you will be well aware of our weekly engineering meetings that take place between our Edinburgh and Glasgow offices via video conferencing (pictured above). Attendees at this meeting include our CEO, Financial Director, Operations Director, Project Manager and other key personnel to discuss ongoing project roll-outs, action plans and any problems. To have all or half of these people travelling at once to another office, taking time out of the working day just seems ridiculous when the technology is there to allow a more efficient and cost-effective way of working. That’s not to say that it replaces face-to-face meetings altogether as these are just as important depending on the nature and circumstances. Call conferencing is another great resource especially for last minute meetings that can be held anywhere and have everyone on the same call at the same time. Call conferencing is just another way to allow your business to adapt to the changes in how you and your staff work whilst retaining expected standards of service and performance. Both call conferencing and video conferencing have come of age, if ever there was a time to embrace the benefits these can offer the time is now with cost of entry prices dramatically reduced making them an ideal communications tool for SME’s – affordable and easy to use. Commsworld Call Conferencing is a simple and convenient voice conferencing service with no monthly charges, no set up fees, and no pre-registration which is available 24/7/365.
